Save a Life: GET INVOLVED!

At the All Animal Care Clinic we believe that the life of all animals has value. Of course our pets aren’t people in disguise. They’re dogs and cats. We know that. But all of us at the All Animal Care Clinic also know how irrational we are with our own pets, and how difficult it is for us to think of them as anything other than honorary members of our families. We want them to be comfortable, we want them to be healthy and we want them to be happy. (Why we behave that way is another story.) This passion most definitely extends to caring for one of the sweetest breed of dogs it has ever been our pleasure to care for: Greyhounds. These 45 mile an hour couch potatoes make wonderful pets and they need our help now. Together we can do it. So lets get involved!

When you got to the ballot box this November 6, you’ll have a historic opportunity to end Greyhound racing in Florida once and for all by voting YES on Amendment 13.

Florida is home to more than half of the country’s Greyhound tracks. Racing Greyhounds endure lives of near perpetual confinement, suffer severe injuries and often die on the tracks. On average, a racing dog is killed every three days in Florida.

A “YES” vote Amendment 13 would phase out commercial Greyhound racing by 2020, ensuring that thousands of dogs will no longer be forced to run for their lives and can be adopted into loving homes.

Here are 3 easy ways you can help right now.

  1. Make sure you’re registered to vote! Don’t know if you’re registered to vote? Check your registration status here. If you’re not registered to vote, you can register or update your voting information online using the Florida Department of State’s Online Voter Registration portal—then encourage your friends and family to do the same! Remember, the last day to register to vote is October 9, 2018.
  2. Spread the word! Your neighbors need to know how important this issue is. Please forward this email to friends and family, and consider submitting a Letter to the Editor of your local newspaper to help educate your community on Amendment 13. If you’re interested in submitting a letter to the editor, please email us at grassroots@aspca.org with your full contact information, including your name and town. We have draft letters and templates on hand to make the process as easy as possible!
  3. Get involved! If you’d like to volunteer at community events or on Election Day in support of Amendment 13, please email grassroots@aspca.org and we’ll provide you with additional ways you can help. This is a huge moment for Florida’s dogs and we need all hands on deck. We can’t end Greyhound racing without your help.

We look forward to working with you to pass Amendment 13 in November! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email us at grassroots@aspca.org.
