Halloween can be a fun time for you and your pet

With the convergence of a full moon, a blue moon, the end of daylight savings time and Saturday celebrations — not to mention the unprecedented events of this year — Halloween 2020 will truly be one for the books.

So much has changed in our world…yet our love for the fun, fright, and delight of Halloween is as strong as ever. So let’s unleash our Halloween inspiration to celebrate the season in safe, fun, and unexpected ways!

Whether you’re Trick or Treating in the neighborhood, Halloween hosting a Limited Invite Party with just a few close friends and family, going totally ZOOM, or doing Porch Pics this year, the most important thing is to remember to party safely while showing off those Halloween houses, pet costumes and your favorite little monsters!

Here are a few timeless reminders concerning our pets:
  • “You mean I can’t eat my costume?” Think before you dress your dog. Pets may be tempted to chew off loose pieces of fabric and dangling small objects (like bells and “eyes”), resulting in digestive upset or even obstruction. This won’t be comfortable for your pet, and it may ruin your carpets and your bank account, too.

  • Know your pet’s nature. Whether your pet is shy or reserved or the life of the party, if you’re hosting a Halloween gathering that’s still a lot of change, so consider keeping your pet away from all the hustle and bustle. Too many strangers in costumes may cause your pet stress. This will also prevent your pet from sneaking out through an open door and darting out into the night.
  • In fact, you may consider keeping your furry family members especially close and indoors during the days and nights around Halloween. Pranksters and vandals have teased, injured, stolen and, even killed pets on Halloween. Keeping your pet inside will keep them from becoming the target of idiots.
  • Name, Rank and Serial number.. . With all the Halloween festivities, it’s a great idea to make sure your pet has proper identification if they escape from your house or become lost while out trick-or-treating.

Halloween can be a fun time for you and your pet. Following these simple safety tips will make sure the only scares you experience are all GOOD FUN!
